Award singles Shake Shack out as being best in category worldwide

Lansdowne, VA, October 10, 2013:  SSP America, in partnership with JFKIAT, is pleased to announce Shake Shack’s location in John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 4 has been named the “Best Fast Food/Quick Service Restaurant” by The Moodie Report at its 2013 annual Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Awards held in Dubai, UAE.  Shake Shack was selected by a panel of industry experts among a record number of entries from airports and railway stations around the globe.  This distinct honor recognizes Shake Shack as the very best in its category worldwide.

Shake Shack’s location in the newly expanded Terminal 4 on Delta’s B Concourse is operated in partnership with SSP America and is the restaurant’s first location in a U.S. airport. Terminal 4 is home to 30 international and domestic airlines with an annual passenger volume approaching 15 million.

Shake Shack CEO, Randy Garutti, enthused, “We’re thrilled to bring the experience of Shake Shack to JFK! Together with SSP America, we’re working to change the paradigm on what travelers should expect from airport dining.  We hope our commitment to high quality ingredients and sincere hospitality will make the Shack the place busy travelers will choose to gather for years to come.”

Since the original Shake Shack opened in 2004 in NYC’s Madison Square Park, it now has multiple locations in New York, Washington, DC, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida and Massachusetts, as well as international locations throughout the Middle East, Turkey and United Kingdom.  Shake Shack’s location at JFK Terminal 4 is the first airport Shack in North America.

SSP America’s President and CEO, Les Cappetta, commented, “We are extremely proud of our partnerships with Shake Shack and JFKIAT and are honored to share this truly prestigious award with them.  Shake Shack is one of the most innovative and forward-thinking brands in the industry and will no doubt garner more awards and accolades as it continues its expansion worldwide.”

“SSP America’s food and beverage program at JFK Terminal 4 in Delta’s all new concourse is one of the best at JFK and Shake Shack is the star of the lineup,” said Alain Maca, president, JFKIAT LLC. “This award confirms Shake Shack’s status as a top Quick Service Restaurant, not just in New York but when compared to airport offerings around the world. Congratulations to our partner SSP America and to Shake Shack for providing the high-quality dining experience passengers expect and deserve.”
