The Greek director and screenwriter Yorgos Lanthimos’ big break came with the film Dogtooth (2009), which gave him the Bronze Horse for Best Film at Stockholm International Film Festival. Lanthimos received his second Bronze Horse in 2015 when he was awarded with the Stockholm Visionary Award in conjunction with the Swedish premiere of his film The Lobster.

Yorgos Lanthimos latest film is The Favourite, a dark comedy starring Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone. The film has already received the Grand Special Jury Prize in Venice, as well as the Volpi Cup for Best Actress to Olivia Colman for her role as the dysfunctional Queen Anne of Great Britain.

The story focuses on the behind-the-scenes politics between two women (Weisz and Stone) jockeying to be court favorites during the reign of Queen Anne (Colman) in early 18thcentury England.

The Favourite will have its Swedish premiere at Stockholm International Film Festival on Saturday, November 17th, at 5:00 pm at Skandia movie theater in Stockholm.

The film is competing in the Open Zone section, where the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) selects the winner for Best Film.

Tickets are released today at 10:00 am here: https://www.stockholmfilmfestival.se/sv/festival/2018/film/thefavourite
