STORA ENSO OYJ STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 14 November 2008 at 07.00 GMT             


During the 1-31 October 2008 conversion period there was one conversion and a   
total of 50 A shares were converted into R shares. The shares were recorded in  
the Finnish trade register today, 14 November 2008, and trading in the new      
R shares will start on 17 November 2008.                                        
	                                                                               
Breakdown of shares after conversion:                                           
A shares		177 152 481                                                      
R shares		612 386 018                                                      
Total		789 538 499                                                

Each A share and each ten R shares carry one vote. The total amount of votes    
after conversion is 238 391 083.
