Storytel launching its own e-reader

Storytel is poised to introduce its own e-book device the Storytel Reader, developed to meet Storytel’s ambition of making digital stories more accessible and available, and to give subscribers an even greater ability to choose between reading with their ears –– or their eyes.

“Finally we can get Sweden reading e-books. A Storytel subscription combined with the Storytel Reader is a perfect solution for everyone tired of binge-watching TV-series in their bedrooms. Now they’ll be able read before bedtime again, just as before the TV-streaming services,” says Storytel CEO Jonas Tellander.

The Storytel Reader is lightweight at under 200 grams, and a pleasure to hold. Physical buttons make turning pages easy, even when holding the reader with one hand. And thanks to its six-inch, back-lit, electronic ink display, you can read in sunlight as well as darkness. In addition, its dedication to a single application makes for uninterrupted and enriching screen-time.

The Storytel Reader will be available in Sweden, Denmark and Finland before the summer-vacation season, and will soon be rolled out in all of Storytel’s other markets, as well. In Sweden it will retail at 999 SEK. The e-reader will connect directly to Storytel’s service, and have access to its entire e-book catalogue.
