Floreon and Matrix Plastics are announced as winners at The Plastics Industry Awards 2014
Floreon Transforming Packaging and Matrix Plastics have won the Supplier Partnership (Masterbatch/Compound/Additive) award at The Plastics Industry Awards 2014, which took place at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Friday 24th October 2014.
Winning this award is another impressive event to add to the extremely busy, yet exciting year Floreon have had.
Floreon is an innovative PLA based bioplastic that has improved the toughness of standard PLA whilst reducing the brittleness. These characteristics allow Floreon to be used in a multitude of different applications that would normally use oil based plastics.
Since early 2013, Matrix and Floreon have worked together to produce both compound and colour masterbatch forms for various manufacturers around Europe.
Shaun Chatterton, Director of Floreon is delight to have won this prestigious award, saying:

Floreon, as well as being from 100% sustainable resources, is both recyclable and biodegradable making it suitable for use by numerous brands who are increasingly starting to move away from oil based plastics and towards greener alternatives.
“It is a privilege to be working with Matrix Plastics and a delight to have won the award alongside them for the pioneering work that Floreon and Matrix are doing together. Floreon are still undergoing trials for injection moulding on cosmetic trays, blow moulding of bottles, extruded sheets for printing and 3D filament which indicates a very bright future for Floreon as the world’s most versatile bioplastic.”
Floreon Transforming Packaging was founded back in 2011 from a desire for a greener, safer form of water bottle for office water coolers. The company is based in Hull and has developed the product through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with The University of Sheffield. The KTP was successful and was awarded outstanding from a board of external grading panel.
