Previously it had been possible to buy tickets using a charge card on board.
The reason for this move by Swedbus is that the ECB (European Central Bank) has introduced new standards for payment terminals that take effect as of 1 January 2011. The existing payment terminals on board the Express Buses do not comply with these new regulations and are thus being withdrawn from service.
