Quito, among 21 finalists in the New 7 Wonders Contest

Quito is getting closer to becoming one of the New 7 Wonder Cities of the World, and is now among the 21 official finalists of this competition. 

In the announcement, Bernard Weber, Founder and President of New7Wonders organization, referred to the geographical, cultural, and landscape diversity of the 21 cities that are continuing in the contest. He also praised the voters who supported the campaign for each city.

Like all New7Wonders campaigns, the next phase of voting continues through the web and apps for tablets or smartphones. This is the penultimate stage of the competition which uses the votes to find the 14 finalists that will be announced on October 7. After this phase, they will resume the voting which will reveal the 7 Wonder Cities of the World on December 7.

Ecuador's capital is the only city that represents Ecuador. The other cities that qualified for the fifth phase of the contest are: Bangkok, Barcelona, Beirut, Chicago, Doha, Durban, Havana, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, La Paz, London, Mendoza, Mexico City, Mumbai, Perth, Reykjavik, St. Petersburg, Seoul, Shenzhen and Vigan.

The competition began in 2012 with a list of more than 1,200 cities across the globe, and of those nominated, only 21 remain.

Follow these steps and support Quito until October 7, 2014:

1.    Login to www.quito.com.ec.

2.    Press the button, Vote for Quito (right side).

3.    Click on Quito and choose six more cities.

4.    Click VOTE.

5.    Register your vote or subscribe via social networks.

About New7Wonders:

In October 2013, Quito was named as a finalist in the New7Wonders Cities contest.
