Major ADSL initiative by TeliaSonera to provide connections to another 100,000 Swedish households

Major ADSL initiative by TeliaSonera to provide connections to another 100,000 Swedish households TeliaSonera Sweden has decided to build out its ADSL service at another 104 switching centres in 73 municipalities in south and central Sweden. This is a major initiative that was first presented by Marie Ehrling, head of TeliaSonera Sweden, in February this year. Below is a list of the municipalities where ADSL will be rolled out. Approximately 450,000 customers already have broadband access through agreements with a number of the operators that use TeliaSonera's network. Slightly more than 100,000 households will now be given the opportunity to get easy access to broadband through ADSL in the telecom network. The rollout is expected to be completed within six months. There is a tremendous demand for ADSL services and TeliaSonera's role as a provider is also important for the development of new Internet-based services. Based on the now decided build-out plan, approximately 76 percent of households in Sweden will be given the opportunity to order ADSL service. ADSL capacity will be made available in the following 73 municipalities in Sweden: Ale Bengtsfors Bollebygd Borås Botkyrka Boxholm Bromölla Båstad Eda Ekerö Enköping Eskilstuna Forshaga Gislaved Grästorp Gullspång Göteborg Hagfors Hallstahammar Halmstad Hedemora Härryda Hässleholm Höganäs Högsby Jönköping Karlsborg Karlskoga Karlskrona Karlstad Klippan Kristianstad Kristinehamn Kungsbacka Kävlinge Köping Landskrona Lekeberg Leksand Lerum Lessebo Lidköping Linköping Ljungby Lysekil Munkfors Mölndal Nordanstig Nyköping Osby Sigtuna Sjöbo Skövde Sotenäs Storfors Svalöv Svedala Sölvesborg Tanum Tingsryd Trelleborg Uppsala Vara Varberg Vaxholm Värmdö Värnamo Växjö Åstorp Ängelholm Örkelljunga Österåker Östra Göinge For further information journalists can contact: Charlotte Löfgren, Press Secretary, TeliaSonera, Networks and Production, phone +46 70 562 00 74.
