BACKGROUND AND MANAGEMENT Since 2009, Apple Core Hotels has repositioned and renovated these two midtown chain hotels in to stylish, independent, budget properties. The company’s development has been spearheaded by Apple Core Hotels’ president and COO, Vijay Dandapani. A graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, Vijay Dandapani brings with him over two decades of top-level hotel management experience holding numerous key operational positions in hotels around the world, including vice president of operations for Chatwal Hotels and operations analyst for Grand Champions Resorts Corporation. Mr Dandapani is also a member of the Board of Directors for the following associations: Hotel Association of New York City; NYC & Company; NYSHTA (New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association); and the International Hotel Motel & Restaurant Show at Javits. He has spoken on hospitality issues at many forums sponsored by such organisations as Arthur Anderson, University of California at Los Angeles, Columbia University and New York University. In 1998, Mr Dandapani was recognised by Crain’s New York Business as one of the top 100 minority business leaders in New York City. In 2002, the Asian American Business Development Center, New York selected him as one of 50 Outstanding Asian Americans in Business.
