Award-winning Yarmouth author Carolyn McCrae leads readers through a gripping mystery in her 7th novel

Yarmouth author Carolyn McCrae is set to publish a gripping and intelligent murder mystery.

Speaking about the inspiration for her latest novel, Carolyn, whose first novel The Last Dance won the prestigious David St John Thomas Prize for Self-Published Fiction, explained, “When I finish writing a book I always feel sad that I have left those characters behind. Although the story in Her Parents’ Daughter (Carolyn’s 5th novel) ended satisfactorily I always thought there was more to tell.”

Second Strand follows Alex and Teri, a couple who are on the verge of breaking up after 12 years together. But when their elderly neighbour is found dying, their plans are put on hold. Two days later Alex, the police’s only suspect in what is now a murder investigation, disappears without trace.

Carolyn goes on to add, “I had an idea for a follow on to Her Parents’ Daughter which was to involve a related murder. But when my most recent book, A Set of Lies, introduced two historically savvy investigators operating in the same town at the same time it seemed obvious that they would have to be involved. Linking characters from two very different books has been great fun.”
