Eight-year-old Cardiff author Jooks takes a fresh look at a classic nursery rhyme

A young author has turned ‘Hey Diddle Diddle’ on its head with her charming new picture book, The Cow Who Jumped Over The Moon, which takes a look at what happens when the star of one of our best-loved nursery rhymes grows weary of his repetitive life...

We all know the cow who jumped over the moon, the star of arguably the funniest nursery rhyme. But what happens when the cow gets bored of doing the same thing every day? Eight-year-old Jooks, who lives in Cardiff, decided to change the cow's monotonous routine in this charming picture book, The Cow Who Jumped Over The Moon.

“I was singing nursery rhymes with my little sister when I decided to make up some silly stories about the characters from the rhymes. My sister laughed loudest at the story of the cow who jumped over the moon, so I decided to write more about him!” says Jooks, on her inspiration for the book.

A child-friendly tale of the wonders of travel and seeing strange new lands, The Cow Who Jumped Over The Moon will show how opening up to new experiences can change how you view yourself. Beautifully illustrated in full colour, this charming picture book will appeal to children aged 0-5.

Copies of Jooks' beautifully illustrated children's book, The Cow Who Jumped Over The Moon, along with pictures, are available upon request from Matador.
