Haninge, Nynäshamn and Södertälje municipalities extend IT operations agreement with Tieto

The Södertörn municipalities of Haninge, Nynäshamn and Södertälje south of Stockholm have decided to extend their IT operations agreement with Tieto. The contract is worth approximately SEK 120 million and is valid until March, 2018.

Since 2001, Tieto has developed IT platforms for the three municipalities, making their IT use easier and ensuring that the needs of both staff and residents are met.

- We are very pleased with Tieto’s delivery. We are extending the contract to secure our IT production and further develop the operational IT services and functions within our three municipalities, which all have similar needs, says Jeanette Thorell, head of IT at Haninge municipality.

Thanks to the new agreement, the three municipalities will be able to pursue their strategic focus of moving from the more traditional way of operating IT, with for example separate data centers, to a more streamlined procurement of services and functions.

Under the agreement, Tieto will deliver a full IT operations package, including capacity- and server operational services, operation of work stations and networks, a servicedesk as well as consultation services related to IT/infrastructure.

- I’m pleased that the three municipalities continue to show us confidence, allowing us to develop our cooperation even further. This underscores our already strong position within the public sector and gives us the opportunity to take part in the future development of Sweden’s municipalities, says Mats Brandt, Head of Tieto’s public sector business area in Sweden.

The municipalities entered the agreement together in order to achieve synergies and be able to support each other at a time when expectations on flexible IT services are becoming increasingly high – from both the government, citizens and within the own organisation.

- Tieto is a reliable and innovative operating partner. Our cooperation has provided us with a good basis for further IT modernization. With the contract extension in place we are ready to meet future demands, including increased availability as well as better service for our customers, says Jeanette Thorell.
