Andrew Page grows industry stars of the future with Apprentice Scheme
Developing internal skills and investing in the future, leading supplier of Automotive Aftermarket parts components, Andrew Page, is launching its innovative apprentice and talent development programme.
Continuing the theme of the Autoparts People, the initiative has been specifically designed to create and nurture the next generation of talent within the aftermarket parts sector. Working in conjunction with automotive apprentice and recruitment provider ProVQ to deliver a specially constructed programme, the curriculum covers highly relevant subjects to provide the most comprehensive training available in the market place today.
With the ultimate aim of providing branches with knowledgeable and highly trained telesales advisors, the training schedule provides key information. The three-year scheme provides the apprentices with valuable experience and knowledge through on-the-job, classroom, and mentor-based training. In addition, apprentices will be trained and qualified to ATA parts person standard, equal to NVQ level 2 and 3 Diplomas in Vehicle Parts.
As the only UK motor factor to proactively offer a nationwide parts advisor apprentice programme, Andrew Page is keen to engage with school leavers and is actively working with local schools, colleges and the government’s National Apprentice Scheme to promote the concept. As part of a continual process the scheme will operate with an annual intake of students.
“It’s vital for us to ensure our national network can draw on home grown talent that will develop over time,” explains Adrian Newbery, group training manager at Andrew Page. “This not only safeguards Andrew Page’s future, but also that of the industry. In time these apprentices will be perfectly placed to become our business leaders of the future.”
With a deeper level of training than other schemes, the Andrew Page apprentices make use of ProVQ’s state of the art training centre in Shrewsbury. With engine rigs, cars with clear body panels showing door workings and wiring looms, and simplified boards showing key components or modern engines, the students can get to grips with vehicle technology, equipping them for a future in the automotive aftermarket.
