  • Celebrations, including price roll-back offer kicking-off at CV Show

Axle weighing specialist, Axtec, celebrates its 25thanniversary in 2016 with a series of exciting events and product launches. First among the company’s special events this year will be its once-in-a-lifetime offer to one lucky operator to supply and install (including civil engineering) one of their Static Single-Axle Weighbridges for the price of £4,999.00 plus VAT – echoing the same price of the product in 1991.

Axtec kicks-off its 25thAnniversary celebrations at the CV Show in Birmingham at the end of April, where visitors to the company’s stand will be the first to take advantage of the unique price roll-back offer.

Although installed at its 1991 price, Axtec (Axle Weight Technology Limited) has embraced state-of-the-art technology and has designed its Static-Single Weighbridge for 25 years-plus service. “The installation of Axtec’s Static-Single Weighbridge for under five thousand pounds presents a significant incentive for the selected operator,” said Managing Director, Keith Gresham.

Designed specifically for operators of 2-axle rigid vehicles, the Axtec Static-Single has a heavy duty, high precision weighing platform, a high visibility display and software allowing drivers to use it without leaving the cab.

The Single-Static Weighbridge benefits from the same platform, frame and load cells as its Dynamic Axle Weighbridge stablemate – the most accurate of its type in the world. The Single-Static system is designed for heavy use and, being unaffected by traffic crossing at road speed, it may be installed at entrance / exit lanes at customers’ premises. The high visibility display shows axle and gross weights to the driver in-cab.

The Static-Single Axle Weighbridge is just part of the Axtec range which also includes Portable and On-Board systems as well as its flagship Dynamic Axle Weighbridge.

Notes to Editors – A brief history of Axtec

Axtec was established in 1991, during a deep recession, and has grown to become the world leader in vehicle axle weighing technology. Formed by a team which already had over 50-years collective experience in the industry, Axtec has focused its research and development solely on axle weighing systems to combat overloading.

From day one Axtec directly employed its own software, construction and installation teams giving it total control over all aspects of installation, thus ensuring the highest quality. A series of innovative products backed by unrivalled service back-up have taken the company from strength to strength, resulting in hundreds of axle weighbridge installations. In 2007, the company launched its innovative Axtec OnBoard Axle Load Indicator and has since sold thousands of units, helping operators across the UK stay compliant and at the same reducing operating costs.

From its headquarters in Runcorn, Cheshire, Axtec operates the first and only weighbridge test vehicle specifically designed for dynamic axle weighbridges. It is the first and only company to introduce colour touch-screen technology for OnBoard Axle Load Indicators and, with its Dynamic Axle Weighbridge, is also the only manufacturer  to produce a system accurate enough to be approved for use as a public weighbridge.

Axtec is the sole supplier of axle weighbridges and associated calibration, certification, survey and maintenance services to DVSA, who use its systems nationally for law enforcement.  Many of the biggest names in industry rely on Axtec to help them utilise the payload of their vehicles to the maximum without straying into overloading. Axtec weighbridges and on-board systems are in use not only in the transport and distribution sector, but also across industries as diverse as agriculture, waste management and the hotel and leisure industry.

Axtec’s aim has always been to establish a working partnership with clients to identify and understand problems, and then offer a one-stop solution with a genuine long-term commitment to support and maintenance.

Managing Director and one of the founders of the business, Keith Gresham, said: “The pressures have never been so great on operators to get the most out of their vehicles whilst also complying with the law in regard to vehicle weights. Our systems, and our expertise over the last 25 years, has been entirely focused on helping them to do that.

“I am immensely proud of what our team has achieved over the years,” he said, “Today, we are the acknowledged leader in axle weighing technology; our dynamic weighbridges are the most accurate in the world and our market-leading OnBoard Axle Load Indicators are protecting thousands of trucks and vans from overloads.”

“We’re committing more time and resources to Research & Development than ever, and we’re proud to design and manufacture in the UK. We continue to be innovative in developing solutions that will help our customers to reduce their costs and stay legal whilst also improving their productivity. And we intend to remain at the forefront of axle weighing technology for many more years to come.”
