The UK’s largest manufacturer of electric vehicle charging points, Chargemaster, has been ranked 32nd in the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100, which lists Britain's top 100 fastest-growing private technology companies.

The league table ranks UK tech firms with the fastest-growing sales over the latest three years. This year, Chargemaster reached the milestone of having supplied more than 20,000 domestic electric car charging points in the UK and nine other European countries. It also installed its 10,000th public and commercial charging point as part of the government’s electric vehicle infrastructure scheme.

In July, growth capital investor, Beringea invested £3 million in Chargemaster to strengthen its position in the UK market and fund further expansion into the European electric vehicle charging market.

David Martell, Chargemaster’s founder and chief executive said: “We are delighted to be recognised as one of Britain’s fastest-growing tech firms for the work that we are doing to accelerate the electric vehicle market, both in the UK and more widely in Europe.”

With many new electric models now launched, or about to come on the market, the EV market in the UK is buoyant. Manufacturers offering, or about to offer plug-in vehicles in the UK now include Audi, BMW, Citroën, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Smart, Tesla, Toyota, Vauxhall, Volkswagen and Volvo.

It is widely forecast that between five and ten percent of cars sold in the UK will be plug-in or fully electric by 2020, and indications suggest the market is on track to meet such levels.
