  • High retreadability for optimal cost-effectiveness

The German premium tyre manufacturer Continental is expanding its range of urban bus tyres with the addition of a 19.5 inch Conti Urban HA3 tyre. This new 19.5 inch tyre has been specially developed for use on medium-sized city buses. The newly developed rubber compound of the Conti Urban HA3 265/70 R19.5 guarantees a particularly long service life even in challenging inner-city stop-and-go traffic conditions, where vehicles are regularly braking and accelerating. In addition, the reinforced sidewalls make the tyre resistant to frequent contact with curb stones – an unavoidable hazard of public transport operations.

The new Conti Urban HA3 265/70 R19.5 is an all-axle tyre and guarantees superb handling and excellent grip, ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers. The increased rubber content in the new compound strengthens the tyre sidewalls, forming a particularly robust tyre contour when combined with the steel cord casing. This contour is very resilient to wear and tear caused by frequent contact with curb stones at bus stops. The full-depth sipes in the tread also ensure optimal handling over the entire service life of the premium tyre – even in wet conditions.

In addition to the rubber compound improvements, the tread design has also been optimised with a high wear volume – "plus volume pattern". Together they increase the service life of the Conti Urban HA3 by up to 20 percent compared to conventional regional tyres.

The tyres incorporate regrooving indicators which are integrated into the tread and mark the possible regrooving depth. Regrooving gives tyres a longer service life with a lower rolling resistance, directly impacting the cost-effectiveness of the fleet. Like all Generation 3 bus tyres, the casing of the Conti Urban HA3 R 265/70 R19.5 can also be retreaded, giving it a second tyre life. This is a direct competitive advantage for urban bus companies under pressure to reduce costs.

The Conti Urban HA3 265/70 R19.5 is labelled with the M+S (mud and snow) symbol, which makes the tyre suitable for year-round use in many European regions.
