LONDON (05 November, 2015) – RM Sotheby’s, the world’s largest collector car auction house for investment-quality automobiles, returns to Paris, 3 February, 2016, for its annual sale during the world-famous Retromobile show week. With in excess of €19 million worth of fine cars sold at the 2015 sale, the 2016 event will celebrate its third anniversary by bringing more than 60 outstanding automobiles to market during one of the most important weeks on Europe’s classic car calendar.

Leading early entries for RM’s Paris sale is a unique 2004 Ferrari Enzo, chassis no. 135564. Built to a very special specification, the Enzo is finished in Nero Daytona with red ‘Cartier’ upholstery and features a carbon wing and mirror, tinted windows, Enzo monograms, Alpine GPS and audio system, along with a reverse camera. Just 2,500km from new, it is currently going through Ferrari Classiche certification (Est. €1.500.000 - €2.000.000).

Fifteen years before the Enzo was manufactured, the F40 reigned supreme as Ferrari’s most extreme and focused supercar. The rich and famous from all around the world wanted to own an F40, so it is no surprise that Stefano Casiraghi, the famous playboy and offshore powerboat racer, had an example in his garage. Casiraghi was also well-known for being the second husband of Princess Caroline of Monaco, to whom he was still married when he tragically lost his life defending his powerboat title in 1990. Casiraghi purchased the Ferrari F40 on offer, chassis no. 80161, in Paris in 1989, and was a common sight driving the car on the streets of Monaco at that time. Presented in classic Ferrari Rosso, it boasts extremely low mileage, having covered only 4,300km from new, and features a full complement of tools and books (Est. €1.000.000 - €1.200.000).

“All Ferrari supercars are special, but these two early entries for our Paris sale each boast unique and highly desirable histories along with low, original mileage,” says Max Girardo, Managing Director, RM Sotheby’s Europe. “We’re looking forward to another great sale in Paris to kick off our 2016 European auction calendar.”

Other early entries for the sale include:

  • 1978 Ferrari 512 BB, chassis no. 23125 (Est. €400.000 - €450.000)
  • 1963 Ghia L6.4 Coupé, chassis no. 0313 (Est. €250.000 - €330.000)
  • 1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A Speedster, chassis no. 80389 (Est. €250,000 - € 300,000)
  • 1956 Austin-Healey 100 M 'Le Mans', chassis no. BN2-L/233008 (Est. €160.000 - €200.000)

RM’s 2016 Paris auction will be held at Place Vauban immediately after the Festival Automobile International, which is scheduled from 3 December to 31 January. This exciting event will gather a stunning display of beautiful concept cars and pay tribute to car designers from around the world.
