Heavy transport specialist, T Georgeson Haulage in Standish, Wigan has taken delivery of its first Euro-6 DAF XF 510 FTT Super Space Cab. The new 6x4, 510bhp machine joins two same-spec Euro-5 DAF XFs delivered in August 2012 and September 2013. The company, which specialises in the transport of ballast for plant and heavy lifting equipment, has expanded recently to a heavy vehicle fleet of 12, remaining 100% DAF.

The company now has four 150-tonne DAFs, an 80 tonner and seven 44-tonne tractor units.

T. Georgeson continues its long-standing association with local DAF dealership, Lancashire DAF at Bamber Bridge – a relationship that company owner, Tom Georgeson, says “is as strong now as it’s ever been.

“We have a proven track record with DAF vehicles”, says Georgeson. From a product point of view, the DAF heavy-haulage chassis give us a top–spec, no-nonsense piece of kit. 510bhp is plenty for our type of operation, and, above all, these top-of-the-range units represent fantastic value for money. From the drivers’ point of view, they say the Super Space Cab is an exceptionally comfortable all-round cab.

“I’ve stayed loyal to DAF”, Georgeson points out, “because DAF has stayed loyal to me – especially the team at Lancashire DAF. They understand my needs and will always go the extra mile for me. That makes for a good business relationship between us.

“Thanks to the reliability of our DAF vehicles, this has enabled us to fulfil our own customers’ requirements,” he says.

With business increasing, the company has acquired three Nooteboom ballast trailers, which it has refurbished, joining a further 11 trailers in the fleet and including a newly acquired Broshuis double extender trailer.

“We are seeing a substantial increase in work at present,” adds Georgeson, “in fact, and despite the recent recession, we’ve been busy for the last three to four years. Should we decide to increase our fleet in the future, I would have no hesitation in purchasing another DAF vehicle.”
