Anders Narvinger to succeed Rune Andersson as Chairman of Trelleborg AB

Anders Narvinger to succeed Rune Andersson as Chairman of Trelleborg AB Trelleborg AB's long-standing Chairman Rune Andersson and Deputy Chairman Lennart Nilsson have announced their decisions to retire from these positions at the Annual General Meeting in April 2002. The Board proposes to appoint Board member Anders Narvinger new Chairman of the company. Anders Narvinger, 53, MSc. and MBA, has worked for the ABB Group since 1972 and has a solid industrial background. He has occupied several senior executive positions within ABB, including President and CEO of ABB AB in Sweden during the period 1996-2001. He is currently Group Senior Vice President in ABB Ltd. Anders Narvinger is also Chairman of the Swedish Export Council and Lund Technical Institute, as well as being a member of the Board of Volvo Car Corporation. In addition, he is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA). "Trelleborg is today a completely different company, compared with when I was first elected to the Board in 1999, and the work of the Board along the way has been both fulfilling and inspiring," says Anders Narvinger. "I am now looking forward to taking part, as Chairman, in the work to further develop the Group in line with the established corporate strategy." Rune Andersson was appointed President and elected a member of the Trelleborg Board in 1983. After several years of strong expansion, he took over the Chairmanship in 1990. "My time with Trelleborg has been incredibly exciting," says Rune Andersson. "I took over responsibility for the company in 1983. During these past 19 years, Trelleborg has developed from a small rubber company to become active in many different sectors and has now returned to focus on a select number of core operations. Today, Trelleborg is a focused, global industrial group, with a very strong financial position, and it therefore feels right to leave the company at this point. "It also feels right to hand over the Chairmanship to Anders, who has amassed a considerable amount of know-how about Trelleborg through his Board duties during the past few years. His sound industrial experience from major companies in the engineering sector also fit in well with Trelleborg's new structure," concludes Rune Andersson.
