Vattenfall's Swedish nuclear power business needs more than 300 new employees in the coming years. A unique initiative is now being launched to attract engineers and people interested in technology who would like to work in Vattenfall's nuclear power business in the future.

Vattenfall is now recruiting for the future. Vattenfall's wide-ranging nuclear power business requires hundreds of new employees in the coming years and probably even more in the longer term.

"We want to attract, develop and retain staff at the same time as we want to use the campaign to create interest in future career opportunities within an area that is extremely important for Sweden's electricity supply in the future. Looking toward the 2040s, nuclear power generation will create a lot of job opportunities in the next few decades," says Dag Svensson, Head of HR within BA Generation.

There are 60 or so different professions within Swedish nuclear power and major development prospects exist throughout the Vattenfall Group as a whole. The campaign will run from 15 September to 15 December and is primarily targeted at recently graduated engineers with either a BSc or an MSc, or a few years' work experience.

The campaign also has the aim of recruiting some 20 ”Nuclear Trainees” for the Vattenfall Nuclear Trainee Programme which starts in March 2018.

Last year climate-friendly nuclear power accounted for 40 per cent of Swedish electricity generation – as much as Swedish hydro power. Swedish nuclear power has been modernised, and Ringhals 3 and 4, as well as Forsmark 1, 2 and 3, are well equipped for long-term operation. Swedish nuclear power is currently creating around 20,000 jobs within operation and maintenance.
