Visioneer Volunteer Night A Big Success

PLEASANTON, Calif., Nov. 25, 2013 – To celebrate the second anniversary of Visioneer’s quarterly Where There Is A Need Program, Visioneer employees and their families volunteered with an organization called Kids Against Hunger.

Kids Against Hunger has a mission to feed starving children and make a dent to world hunger. For this Bay Area organization, that doesn’t mean just collecting money and sending it overseas. Kids Against Hunger actually organizes groups of volunteer to assemble, pack and ship highly nutritious food directly to starving and malnourished children in developing countries and the United States. On November 12, Visioneer participated in a special packing event organized for the people in the Philippines and packed 4,968 meals.

“The devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines is unimaginable to most of us,” said Sherri Leal, Kids Against Hunger Bay Area Director. “Tens of thousands of people are without food, water, homes and electricity. Since we learned of the typhoon on the news, we have organized 15 packing events and have packed over 145,000 meals so far. We will be shipping to the Philippines the first week of December.”

“It was a touching event for our employees, their spouses and children to come together for the benefit of those in the Philippines,” said Greg Elder, Visioneer CFO and Sustainability Officer.  “We were proud to participate in the great work that Kids Against Hunger does for those in need.  We all felt a direct connection that the food we were packaging would be saving someone’s life.”
