March Garden Workshops: Getting Ready for Spring!

Report this content

Bronx, NY, February 11, 2014 ―Join us at the beginning of the month for what is a rare opportunity to learn all about starting plants from seed. Horticultural Interpreter Charles Day, who has his own, large vegetable garden at home, and Assistant Director of Horticulture Brian McGowan, an avid home gardener as well, with a vegetable garden and ornamental plantings, share techniques for starting common and unusual garden plants from seed. The workshop also includes a behind-the-scenes tour of Wave Hill’s own growing areas with propagator Susannah Strazzera. Space is limited at this workshop, which is not offered every winter.

Continue exploring the world of gardens and gardening at the Garden Trellis Workshop, and construct your own vertical trellis to spruce up a wall indoors or out with Director of Facilities Frank Perrone as your guide. Lastly, Assistant Director of Public Programs Laurel Rimmer leads the Terrarium Workshop. Create your own miniature garden filled with tiny ferns, creeping figs and other tropical plants that thrive in the humid conditions of an enclosed jar.
