Waystream, who develops and sells advanced digital infrastructure, such as switches and routers for fiber broadband networks, has won an order for access equipment through its partner Consica A/S in Denmark. The total value of the order for the deal is 4 million SEK.

The access equipment comprises ASR6000, a Layer 3 Gigabit Etheret access switch, to be shipped to Denmar during April 2017. The equipment will be used in the ongoing expansion of fiber networks.

-   We are happy for the confidence from Fibia to deliver equipment for their expansion which means that more Danes will have access to fast Internet. As in Sweden and the rest of Europe, there is a strong focus on giving more citizens faster access to Internet in Denmark, says Johnny Hedlund, Waystream CEO.

Fiber networking is the fastest growing broadband technology in Denmark. A report1 from Denmark’s Energy Agency, stated that the total number of fiber broadband subscribers increased by 15.4% from June 2015 to June 2016, which equals 65,000 new fiber subscribers. The total number of fiber subscribers in June 2016 was approximately 485,000.
