The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) is backing this year’s Surface Design show (Business Design Centre, London, 5-7 February 2013), with the Institute’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Director Dan Hopwood confirmed to speak as part of the event’s talks programme on Wednesday 6thFebruary.
The Surface Design Show is the leading event for architects and interior designers to discover innovative surface solutions for the built environment. Dan’s talk ‘The Future of Design’ will be an unmissable session in the seminar programme for any discerning designer. Discussing collaboration, the designer’s role, client involvement, British craftsmanship and how products are sourced, Dan will provide important insights into the sector and where it is headed.
“The Surface Design show is an important event for designers, providing us with an opportunity to explore a range of materials and technologies that could improve our projects,” says Dan. “It is a great platform also for the Institute to engage with other designers and architects, and discuss relevant issues, such as craftsmanship and sourcing materials. I am very much looking forward to being involved in such a unique and inspirational show”.
The BIID is also an Official CPD Partner for the Surface Design show alongside RIBA. The CPD Hub will provide CPD seminars throughout the show, allowing attendees to help further their personal development by accruing CPD points and keeping them abreast of all the latest industry concerns.
Launched in 2004, the Surface Design show is the only UK show to focus solely on surface design and will showcase new, cutting edge and inspiring materials. It attracts over 100 companies showcasing pioneering natural stone, wood, tiles, recyclable materials, metal, living materials, paint, illuminated surfaces and coatings that can be used as flooring, cladding, ceiling, wall coverings and more.
