CEDIA ENLIGHTENS HOME TECHNOLOGY AT 100% DESIGN

The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) has announced an exciting partnership for this year’s 100% Design (Earls Court, London, 19-22 September). As partner of the event, CEDIA will run one of the show’s hubs, providing a series of CPD training sessions to visitors and will be exhibiting (stand #E161) at the show over the four days educating the design community about home automation.

100% Design is the UK’s leading design show, with last year’s event attracting over 18,000 visitors. For the first timethere will be a 100% Future Living section, a theme connecting each of the four main show sections; Interiors, Office, Kitchens and Bathrooms and Eco Design and Build. The 100% Future Living section will provide

On Wednesday 19 September from 13:45, CEDIA will be hosting a number of thought-provoking sessions covering every aspect of designing a future-ready home. CEDIA will also advise on a Technology Trail for the show, highlighting relevant product stands in show guide. With home technology on the rise, many interior designers tackle the issue of integrating technology into their schemes, in a way that won’t distract from the interior. The programme will help to clarify smart home technology, in order to help interior designers further enrich the quality of projects and simplify the design and technology process.

Sessions on the day will include:

  • 13.45-14.30

Designing Integrated Future-Ready Homes (RIBA CPD) with Phil Cotton, Finite Solutions

An introduction for designers keen to find out how they can bring home technology into their schemes to achieve the best, most attractive results.

  • 14.45-15.30

Innovative Light Management Solutions (RIBA CPD) with Fayaz Kermali, Lutron

Saving energy is at the forefront of purchasing decisions.  This session will give designers a deeper understanding of light control, both electronic and natural and provide advice on the four steps they can take to achieve a 60% reduction in lighting energy consumption.

  • 15.45-16.30

Integrated Controls (RIBA CPD) with Tim Marsden, AMX Europe

As more technology is incorporated in our homes, offices and elsewhere, building controls are an increasingly important part of any build. It’s important for designers to
understand the options available and how an integrated approach can benefit a scheme and bring significant energy saving and aesthetic advantages.

  • 16.45-17.30

Understanding and Specifying Invisible Sound Solutions (RIBA CPD) with Babs Moore, Amina Technologies

This presentation will help designers appreciate the basic principles of conventional sound technology and compare these to a new way of creating sound invisibly. It will also explore the characteristics and benefits of using a highly diffuse sound source within interior design schemes.

“We are really excited to be an official show partner at 100% Design,” Says Wendy Griffiths, Executive Director at CEDIA. “The exhibition is a huge event and incredibly prestigious, set to attract over 40,000 visitors this year, it is a good platform for our members to share their knowledge and network with interior designers and architects. Also, the CPD training sessions will provide a great opportunity for designers to explore how they can use technology to further enhance a project.”

100% Design is one of the world’s most important design trade events and is the commercial cornerstone of the annual London Design Festival. Media 10, took ownership of 100% Design in January 2012. For the new phase of 100% Design has been completely revised; it’ll be defined by four new shows - each with its own dedicated section of the floor plan: 100%Interiors, 100%Office, 100%Kitchen & Bathrooms and 100%Eco Design & Build. A tunnel entrance, an auditorium seating 200 and a dedicated area for international pavilions will also be new for 2012.
