RINGWAY OPENS INFORMATION POINT FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY IN PETERBOROUGH

Leading highways service provider, Ringway, has opened an information point in a former retail space on Peterborough High Street to enhance communication with the local community. The information point will act as a hub for local residents and businesses wishing to stay up-to-date with any progress on the developments of Ringway’s two current contracts in the area.

The two contracts cover the Bridge Street improvements and the Cowgate enhancement scheme for Peterborough County Council, awarded to Ringway through the Midlands Highway Alliance (MHA) earlier this year.

Ringway’s new information point is open and staffed throughout the day to provide a drop-in site, to field any enquiries and questions from local businesses and residents. Additional communication streams are also planned with letter drops, work notices, fortnightly contractor’s reports and courtesy drop-in calls in order to cover the wider community and those unable to visit the High Street.

The aim of this programme of communication is to minimise any inconvenience and delays in the area by allowing people to plan work, travel and day-to-day trips around the public realm schemes.

“With any road or site maintenance programme there will be a certain level of inconvenience to the public and although this is unavoidable, at Ringway we are constantly striving to make this period as short and painless as possible,” said John Upcott, Divisional Director at Ringway.

He continued, “Our intention with the new information point is to keep all stakeholders and interested parties informed of our work schedules and any planned road closures, temporary traffic management systems or delays in order that everyone can plan accordingly for our time on site. Our initial contact with the people of Peterborough has been really positive and I’d like to thank them in advance for their patience.”

A number of information and promotional boards have also been placed around the High Street to further raise awareness of the information point and the works that are taking place. Additionally, a dedicated webpage at: www.peterborough.gov.uk/publicrealmworks has been created to provide further details about the schemes underway, as well as another means of communicating any advanced notices and works progress.
