Microsoft today presents its launch of Windows Mobile Phone at the Mobile Trends-seminar in Oslo, Norway. Music Streaming Service WiMP is ready as one of the first applications when the new operating system launches, and will shortly be available for handsets launching with Windows Phone 7.

WiMP for Windows Phone's new operating system Mango will be characterized by WiMP's award winning editorial profile.

"The way Windows phone is designed provides a very good user experience with WiMP. The "Metro" system presents our unique advantages and our editorial content well. This makes it easy for users to discover new music and old classics. Windows Phone is therefore a natural platform for us to be on, and one we strongly believe in", says Per Einar Dybvik of WiMP.

"WiMP on Windows Phone 7 should be a natural first choice for music lovers and anyone who enjoys music. WiMP utilizes the strengths of the platform and the innovative user interface, "Metro", to create a unique user experience where the music takes center stage", says Peter Merok, Technology Director at Microsoft Norway.

WiMP is growing rapidly and had at the end of June over 300 000 paying users in four countries, up from 100,000 at year end. 700 000 Norwegian Canal Digital customers can now also get WiMP included in their television subscription. WiMP is available in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, and in Portugal as a white label solutions. WiMP focuses on helping users find their way around the vast music library with millions of songs. WiMP was in July elected world's best music service at Meffy Awards in London.
