Friedrichshafen. ZF is showing how the future of logistics could look. The technology company is presenting several innovations that combine electric drive solutions with autonomous driving functions and smart network concepts. This enables the company to closely oversee all central areas of logistics, from depots to parcel delivery services.

Eliminating the bottleneck: autonomous driving functions can improve the safety and efficiency of depot logistics
Using ZF's solutions in the future, vehicles could independently maneuver swap bodies or trailers to their respective destinations, whether they are depots of freight, air or sea.  Based on the company's philosophy of "see. think. act.", ZF is developing instruments for the logistics sector that can help to increase efficiency, speed and environmental friendliness, while helping to reduce accidents and avoid damage. In addition, driverless, maneuverable vehicles can help counteract the ever-growing shortage of skilled workers in the logistics industry.

Handling the distribution volume: ZF's intelligent technology supports increasing delivery demand
The rapid growth in online commerce has significantly increased the pressure on parcel deliverers. By 2021, the number of parcels delivered per year is expected to exceed four billion in Germany alone.  At the same time, end customers increasingly want to specify when and where they receive their parcels. With its new, purely electrically driven Innovation Van, ZF is applying its comprehensive expertise and technologies for autonomous driving to the requirements of delivery logistics, complete with a smart algorithm that takes customer requests into account in real time and calculates the most efficient delivery route.

1) For faster, safer and more efficient logistic processes: The unmanned ZF Innovation Truck with Swap Body Assist maneuvers depots or similar areas and can autonomously master lifting, shifting and stacking. In addition, the TraXon hybrid transmission system allows the truck to locally maneuver emission-free and quietly.
2) The mobility of tomorrow for delivery vehicles: In future, the ZF Innovation Van's autonomous driving functions could contribute to making parcel deliveries more efficient for a secure future.
