At Alfa Laval’s Capital Markets Day in Copenhagen today, managers for the Equipment and Process Technology divisions talked about the latest segmental development. They also described some of Alfa Laval’s clean tech activities and highlighted the untapped potential of turning waste into revenue.

Already today Alfa Laval’s products and solutions play a vital role in managing waste around the world. As new environmental legislation put stricter demands on the industry to reduce emissions and handle waste in a more responsible way, new opportunities are created for Alfa Laval. These opportunities were covered in the afternoon’s presentations, ranging from Carbon Capture and Storage - where Alfa Laval is involved in two big projects in the U.S. and Norway - to CO2 heat pumps - already a big hit in Japan. Divisional managers Susanne Pahlén Åklundh and Svante Karlsson also gave an update of their respective divisions and described some ongoing trends and activities within individual segments. “We see a continuous good demand in the pharma and personal care market”, said Susanne Pahlén Åklundh, manager for the Equipment division. “Sanitary segment was the second largest segment looking at new sales in the third quarter.” She also highlighted diesel power as a growing market and segment manager Peter Carlberg gave an overview of the market for diesel engine power stations, especially suited for remote locations. Alfa Laval has an extensive product range and can offer solutions with zero emissions. Svante Karlsson, manager for the Process Technology division, described the long-term opportunities and also pointed at the good development within the food and pharma industry - driven by increased living standards and health trends. “We also see legislation pushing the need for cleaner and more efficient solutions within energy production and waste streams”. Sammy Hulpiau, segment manager for Energy and Environment, described the company’s solutions within waste water treatment while Hans Dahlén, segment manager for Process Industry, gave various examples of how refineries and petrochemical industries can recover energy, thereby reducing emissions and at the same time improve their bottom line.
