Staff at Bupa’s Church Farm Residential Home, East Wittering, Chichester are looking forward to raising money for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal on Friday 20 November. Members of staff will be dressing up as St. Trinian’s school girls and resident beautician Barbara will be waxing the legs of the home’s maintenance men Mike and Tony for sponsorship. Money raised for Children in Need will be match funded by Bupa Community Connections. Gill Lansdell, activity co-ordinator at Bupa’s Church Farm Residential Home, says: “This year Children in Need are asking for supporters to do something ‘different’ to raise funds. We thought dressing up in St. Trinian’s outfits and organising a sponsored leg wax would be really different to the types of events we usually hold. We’re interested to see which of the men will scream the loudest. We’re sure it’s going to be a success and a lot of fun too!” The BBC Children in Need Appeal is the most important event in the BBC calendar and the only occasion when the whole of the BBC joins together in support of a single project on TV, radio and online. The BBC's first broadcast appeal for children took place in 1927, in the form of a five-minute radio broadcast on Christmas Day. Thanks to generous donations last year, BBC Children in Need raised over £37 million.
