MARY CELEBRATES HER 90TH BIRTHDAY

Mary Moriaty, a resident of Bupa’s The Birches Residential Home, Shefford, Bedfordshire is looking forward to celebrating her 90th birthday on Saturday 28 November. The home will be hosting a birthday party with singers providing the entertainment. The party will start at 2.00pm. Mary was born in Ireland, where she attended a convent school. Mary lived most of her life in Dunstable and had a career as a carer. Mary is married to Gerry Moriaty who is her childhood sweetheart and with whom she had two daughters and a son. These have since given her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mary enjoys singing and her earliest musical memory is the song ‘Danny Boy’. She is a big fan of Kylie Minogue and herself and husband Gerry have enjoyed several holidays to Spain and Portugal. Mary will be presented with a birthday cake and a buffet lunch will be held for her friends, family and residents. Diane Dawson, activity co-ordinator at Bupa’s The Birches Residential Home, says: “Mary is really looking forward to celebrating her 90th birthday. She really enjoys music and although she can no longer dance, her face lights up when music is played. It will be lovely for her to celebrate with her friends and family and we hope she has a very special day.”
