Residents and staff at Bupa’s Queensmount Nursing and Residential Home, Queens Park West Drive, Bournemouth are looking forward to presenting the British Heart Foundation with a charity donation cheque on Thursday 26 November at 3.30pm. The British Heart Foundation was founded in 1961 by a group of medical professionals who were concerned about the increasing death rate from cardiovascular disease. Their aim was to raise money to help fund extra research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and circulatory disease. The home raised the money at their autumn fair in October and will be presenting the charity with £500. 10 year old Chanel Lucas who helped man the tombola stand at the fair will be presenting the cheque on behalf of Bupa’s Queensmount Nursing and Residential Home. Chanel has a special affiliation with the charity, as, at just 12 weeks old underwent a heart operation. Entertainment will be provided before the presentation by a keyboard player. Sheila Willis, home manager at Bupa’s Queensmount Nursing and Residential Home, says: “We are very pleased to be presenting the British Heart Foundation with the money we’ve raised. Everyone at the home worked hard to raise this money and I am pleased our autumn fair was such a success. Chanel is excited to be a part of the event and I feel it fitting that she presents the cheque.”
