Carl Backman, currently Vice President of Bure, has been appointed as the company’s new President and CEO. He will succeed the current President and CEO Martin Henricson in connection with the Annual General Meeting on 28 April. Carl Backman’s main focus will be on further developing the company’s operations and the existing portfolio companies.

Carl Backman is 37 years old and holds a MSc in Economics and an MBA. Carl is currently Vice President of Bure and has worked for the company since 1998 with an emphasis on transactions and management of Bure’s portfolio companies.

“It is only natural for Carl to step up as President and CEO of Bure. During his 10 years with Bure, Carl has successfully developed the portfolio companies and carried out a number of highly successful divestitures and acquisitions. Carl’s wide-ranging experience of investments and value-creation in the companies make him ideally suited for this position,” says Patrik Tigerschiöld, Chairman of Bure.

“When Martin Henricson was recruited as President and CEO of Bure in May 2008 he was given the task of completing Bure’s concentration as an operating company in the educational sector. With the distribution of AcadeMedia to Bure’s shareholders this past autumn, Martin has fulfilled this task in an exemplary manner. It is therefore understandable that he now wishes to move on to new challenges,” says Patrik Tigerschiöld.

“It has been exciting and stimulating to realise Bure’s ambition to create Sweden’s leading education company. Through the merger of Bure’s educational operations in the Anew Learning group and AcadeMedia, this goal was achieved last year. Against this background, I feel satisfied and confident in passing the baton to Carl Backman,” says Martin Henricson.
