Bygghemma Group to expand its central warehouse in Helsingborg
Bygghemma Group, the leading Nordic online retailer within DIY and Home Furnishing, is expanding its central warehouse in Helsingborg in continued partnership with Nowaste Logistics. The expansion will encompass 18,000 m2, which means the total warehouse space will increase from 30,400 m2 to 48,400 m2. The warehouse handles products in furniture and home furnishings that are sold via the online sites Trademax, Furniturebox, Chili, WeGot, and Kodin1 as well as a network of physical stores with some 80 showrooms.
Martin Edblad, acting President and CEO of Bygghemma Group, commented:
“I am very pleased to be able to continue our growth within the scope of the logistics solution we expanded and centralised in 2018. As a result of this expansion, we are prepared to meet future growth while further rationalising and optimising handling costs and strengthening delivery quality.”
The property, which was constructed by Catena and put into operation in 2018, is environmentally adapted and certified through Green Building. Average energy consumption for heating at the warehouse is currently 9 kWh per m2/year, which can be compared with the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning requirement of a maximum 45 kWh. The expansion is being carried out by Catena in partnership with Bygghemma Group’s logistics partner, Nowaste Logistics, and is expected to be completed in September 2020. Bygghemma Group leases the warehouse, which means that financing of the expansion is charged to Bygghemma Group’s balance sheet only in the form of future lease commitments. The length of the agreement is five years.
Jesper Brandin, Head of Sales at Nowaste Logistics AB, commented:
“Bygghemma Group’s operations in home furnishings are growing rapidly, which means that now we need to increase warehouse capacity to meet our customer’s needs. It’s been an incredibly exciting assignment since day one, when we were entrusted with being their logistics partner.”
