Good quality sales enquiries for Paris show Europe’s leading parts information data provider TecDoc has reported a tremendous response to its appearance at the recent Equip Auto ’09 automotive trade show in Paris. Despite some negative opinions of the event from some quarters of the trade, the TecDoc stand was busy throughout as TecDoc launched the fourth quarter CATALOG update for its electronic parts data DVD. The latest version includes new suppliers such as Comline, Magnaflow and Pilkington and brings the total number of parts suppliers to well over 360. There were also numerous conversations with interested parts suppliers concerning the opportunities that the system provides when considering adding their parts data to the electronic catalogue. Many potential suppliers are surprised to learn of the ‘extra’ opportunities that TecDoc can provide in addition to the parts data that CATALOG users access. Suppliers utilizing TecDoc to the full can interrogate the system to analyse the parts market and evaluate ‘gaps’ in their or their competitor’s ranges and even identify new product groups that could be profitably introduced into their range. It is also possible to research TecDoc’s OE data to ensure that the supplier’s parts data remains of high quality and to enable them to ‘refresh’ their OE parts references if necessary. This can be done by checking which OE number fits with the specifics of a particular vehicle, which OE numbers are valid and what are the known replacements of any non-valid parts and which OE number exists for a generic part for a particular vehicle.
