The Evolution of Gearbox Flushing: MOTUL presents the MOTUL Evo GEN2, the latest development in the successful gearbox flushing system

Cologne – 22 February 2023: When the MOTUL Evo gearbox flushing concept was introduced to workshops in 2015, French lubricant manufacturer MOTUL offered a complete solution which greatly simplified cleaning and oil changes for automatic transmissions. Consistent advancements in this area have now led to the development of the MOTUL Evo GEN2 and GEN2+, which make the use of such products even safer and easier and whose software is automatically updated on a regular basis in the top model, GEN2+.

The triumph of automatic gearboxes has been unstoppable for several decades. Today, almost every vehicle manufacturer relies on shiftless power transmission across all classes, with a focus on efficiency, the reduction of emissions, and the best possible handling for the driver.

As a result, this technology not only poses special challenges for transmission oil changes, but also offers just as many opportunities for workshops to benefit from this development. From the commercial aspect to technical advice and the latest equipment standards, MOTUL’s all-round Evo concept offers everything needed to ensure that automatic gearbox flushing is safe, easy, and can be quickly integrated into everyday workshop life.

The focus is on MOTUL’s core competence: the perfect lubrication of all components and therefore providing optimum protection against wear. “If the automatic transmission oil is changed manually without cleaning, more than a third of the old oil remains in the transmission. This can sometimes have a serious effect on mechanical components such as the torque converter, disk springs, or planetary gears due to the contamination of the new oil and poorer heat dissipation. By combining a flush with a gearbox oil change, the MOTUL Evo system reliably replaces the used oil with fresh lubricant in a user-friendly manner. This not only increases reliability, but also the service life of the gearbox and protects against expensive repairs,” says Markus Volkart, Business Development Manager at MOTUL Germany.

Now the successful MOTUL concept is taking the next step in its evolution. In addition to the GEN2 and GEN2+ service units, the concept includes a number of other components: a necessary initial installation with the appropriate MOTUL transmission oils, various marketing services to address customers and advertising, a comprehensive online database with adjustment instructions for the various transmission types, webinar offers for online training, and regular support from MOTUL experts.

At the centre of the overall system are the MOTUL GEN2 and GEN2+, which differ in terms of the range of equipment. The Evo GEN2+ significantly simplifies transmission oil service in everyday use thanks to the large touch display and new graphic interface. Workshops benefit from fully automated support and step-by-step instructions in the integrated colour touch display. An extensive database is also included in the software. For example, the Evo GEN2+ automatically detects the direction of oil flow in the gearbox and thus actively prevents damage to the system components, such as sensitive shaft seals. A Wi-Fi connection enables ongoing updates as well as remote support and gives the option of printing a final report directly from the workshop computer or forwarding it from there. The basic scope of delivery also already includes an adapter kit which covers around 70% of all vehicles. Other adapter kits are available too.

“Ease of use and a price which can be reliably calculated from the start are of great importance to us. The use of the database for both devices is therefore free of charge for a full five years from the first commissioning,” concludes Volkart.

The MOTUL-Evo-GEN2 and -GEN2+ systems are available now.
