Digia to renew Finnish Civil Aviation Authority's IT systems

Digia will renew the operative IT systems of the Finnish Civil Aviation
Authority (CAA). This project is integrated with the comprehensive
modernisation of the CAA's application and server infrastructure, a
multi-annual venture with the goal of improving the operation of the authority
and enhancing aviation safety.

The first stage of Digia's delivery will include solutions for various
applications, among them the customer contacts database (CRM) and the aircraft
register as well as theory exam and licence systems. The objective is to offer
an integrated system and to develop, in particular, electronic stakeholder
services and management systems.

The solutions will be implemented using the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server
technology.

The delivery agreement is based on Hansel Ltd's framework for technical IT
consultancy services for the state administration.

"The systems at the core of the CAA's operations must correspond to the
customers' needs and support the CAA's processes. I am convinced that this
project will enable us to meet internal and external challenges successfully",
says IT Services Manager Janne Heinonen, CAA.

"The foremost requirement for the CAA is a high level of security and
operational safety. The project will strengthen Digia's role as a supplier of
demanding, business-critical IT systems for safety authorities”, says Director
Ari Nuutinen at Digia.
