This winter's coolest job? How about working with Santa in the Arctic Circle?
Speak languages, love meeting new people and look for an adventure? Winter season is approaching and hundreds of job vacancies beyond imagination are waiting to be filled in Finnish Lapland.
Tourism in Finnish Lapland is booming. Exciting new companies arise and the range of activities expands. This winter season is expected to be even better than last year's. And this is good news for adventurers from all over the world. Tens of companies are hiring people for exciting jobs such as wilderness guide, Aurora Borealis watch, Santa's Elf and more conventional tourism related jobs.
In order to make companies and potential employers meet, EURES, the European Job Mobility Portal, has set up a digital platform where one can browse through interesting job opportunities and register as a job seeker.
An online employment event Work in Lapland will take place the 3rd September. In that event it is possible to get things really going – one can have an online job interview and even get hired straight away.
Workmate for Santa
Just outside of Rovaniemi situates Santa Claus Secret Forest, un unique destination where one can experience the magic of Christmas, meet Santa Claus and take part in fun activities with Santa's Elves. And guess who needs workmates for the coming winter season? Oh yes, Santa Claus himself!
– The job of an Elf is a job as any other, but with a special twist. Not many people get the chance to work with Santa Claus, admits Ilkka Länkinen, CEO of SantaPark Arctic World.
As other companies, Länkinen too is looking for fun people who love customer service and speak at least English and preferably other languages too. For the Elve's job it's always a plus if one can sing, play an instrument, dance or has experience in acting. A training held by a professional actor is however offered for the staff in the beginning of the season.
If a more formal working atmosphere sounds appealing, Länkinen and tens of other entrepreneurs are also hiring people in catering and other customer service related jobs. How about working as a valet in a luxorius treehotel, serving in a snow restaurant, guiding tourists on ice-fishing trips or riding a reindeer sledge close to the Russian border in the northest parts of Lapland? Let your imagination run wild!
