LENOVO’S YAO YINGJIA RECEIVES “WORLD’S OUTSTANDING CHINESE DESIGNER AWARD” FROM HONG KONG DESIGN CENTRE
HONG KONG, December 8, 2013 – Yao Yingjia, Chief Designer and Vice President of Lenovo Group (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY), has received the “World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer Award” presented by the Hong Kong Design Centre.
“I am truly honored to be receiving the award on behalf of Lenovo as it greatly encourages Lenovo and our entire design team,” said Yao Yingjia. “At Lenovo, I have been guided by my notions on aesthetics and Chinese concepts about natural harmony in the design of the company’s products. Our team around the world has also provided creative counterparts to my ideas. The underlying objective of a good design is the constant emphasis on balancing people’s needs with the cutting-edge technology available. Good design integrates technology harmoniously into every detail of people’s lives.”
Yao joined Lenovo in 1996. As the Chief Designer of Lenovo, he is dedicated to implementing superior design to deliver a meaningful user experience for Lenovo’s wide range of products including desktop, laptop, smartphone, tablets and smart TV. The outstanding products enable Lenovo to attain a competitive edge in the global market and promote its brand image internationally.
In July this year, the Lenovo’s Design & User Experience Team under leadership of Yao was named as Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2013, one of the most prestigious design awards in the industry. This award recognizes a team’s consistent innovative and quality design achievements in the past few years. Lenovo is the first winner from China ever and the first Asian winner in the last seven years.
The World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer Award is organized by the Hong Kong Design Centre, a strategic partner of the HKSAR Government in developing Hong Kong as an international design hub in Asia. The honor recognizes a designer of Chinese heritage who has accomplished outstanding achievements in his or her own discipline, and who is dedicated to furthering design through educational activities, participation in professional organizations and social commitment.
