- Minister Vehviläinen to place the first electronic transport order

The four nationwide member chains of The Association of Logistic Enterprises in Finland (DSV, Kaukokiito, Kiitolinja and Transpoint) are developing a new service model that will offer their customers an open electronic transport order system. Minister of Transport and Communications Anu Vehviläinen will place”the first electronic transport order” at the Logistics – Transport Exhibition in Helsinki on the 6th of May 2009. The system has been developed by HiQ.

The electronic transport order system allows for the electronisation of the entire order– transportation process. Through electronic transport order placement and delivery data transfer, logistics processes become increasingly effective and costs and errors are reduced. The system is based on the general accepted standards of the transport industry. Orders can be placed at www.kuljetustilaus.fi.

”I was pleased to have the opportunity to participate in the development of Finland’s first open electronic consignment note system which aims at reducing unnecessary driving in order to protect the environment,” says Mikko Helander, the Sales Manager of HiQ Softplan Oy.

”The new system establishes a new standard for large logistics companies and allows the customer to place transport orders via the portal according to a uniform procedure regardless of the company. The system saves time and money, both for the customer and for the company, because orders no longer need to be placed via telephone or fax, but the data is transmitted directly to the transportation company’s database. The customer can print out consignment notes and tallies of cargo independently. It is possible to view order history in the system and keep an address book of the customers,” Tuula Mäkinen from Suomen Kaukokiito Oy explains.

”Due to the standardization of practices, the new system clearly reduces administrative costs. The cooperation between the logistics chains is expected to reduce errors and generate cost savings, because the same data need not be processed many times,” says Kyösti Orre, CEO of the Association of Logistics Enterprises in Finland.

”We are extremely pleased with the system provided by HiQ,” Kyösti Orre continues.
