Ingka and IKEA Group announced the IKEA Festival at Fuorisalone 2022

IKEA Festival at Fuorisalone 2022 marks one week of thrilling events exploring Life at Home and beyond. The festival will be held at BASE in Milan from the 6th to 12th of June, and will feature installations, product reveals by designers and collaborators, and a schedule packed with events and excitement.

IKEA France offers a new immersive experience to improve the customer journey

IKEA France announced a test of an immersive experience in one of its stores to facilitate the customer journey and to inspire customers by using simple projection virtual reality technology. Through this experience, customers can interact in IKEA environments, discover their favourite products, and easily add them to the shopping cart to have them delivered.

The experience includes around twenty IKEA room settings such as kitchen, bedroom, living room, bathroom and storage. The room settings are projected in a space of 9m² where the customers can interact via a tablet to discover the environments and for example, open and close cupboards and change colours and textures.

The very first test of this immersive experience was launched at the Perpignan home service point, a 100m² space opened in September 2021, mainly dedicated to kitchen and storage design. The solution adopted by IKEA was developed by the French start-up UGLA. IKEA democratizes the immersive experience for an integrated customer journey. It also helps IKEA to virtually extend sales surface, in small city center contact points.

IKEA Canada to open new planning studio in Kitchener, Ontario, during fall 2022

IKEA Canada will expand with a new planning studio in Kitchener, Ontario – making IKEA more accessible to the many people in the cities. The planning studio concept focuses on inspiring and supporting customers who are looking to plan and order complex home furnishing solutions for any room in the home with the help of a knowledgeable IKEA specialist. The Kitchener location plans to open its doors to customers in fall 2022.

Ingka Investments made investment in nine solar park projects in Europe

Ingka Investments has made a EUR 340 million investment in nine solar park projects in Spain and Germany, as part of its commitment towards a renewable energy future. The expected production is equivalent to the electricity consumption of roughly 140,000 European households and will generate the equivalent of electricity consumption in all our IKEA stores and warehouses in the two countries.

Opening of a new Local Recovery Hub – a new way of innovating and testing how to prolong the life of IKEA furniture

Ingka Group continues to explore, test and develop new capabilities that will contribute to its journey to become a circular business by 2030. In Malmö, Sweden, a new Local Recovery Hub opened to further explore new methods on how we can better source, clean, repair and offer used IKEA furniture to new customers at an even more affordable price.

IKEA Korea held an Earth Day donation event to reduce the carbon footprint

In celebration of Earth Day, April 22, IKEA Korea held a donation event with the goal of encouraging sustainable living at home while reducing the carbon footprint.

The event aimed to encourage more people to implement easy practices into their daily lives that can help the planet. For each LED light bulb sold through online and offline channels and each pack of plant balls sold in the Swedish Food Market, IKEA Korea donates KRW 1,000. All donations will go to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), a non-profit environmental conservation organization.

LED bulbs consume up to 85% less energy than incandescent bulbs and last about ten times longer, saving energy and reducing environmental impact. Plant ball is meatballs made of plant-based protein and take up only 4% of the climate footprint of classic meatballs through the entire process of production and distribution. Plant ball retains the authentic taste and texture of meatballs, allowing the many to enjoy the original experience while implementing healthy and sustainable eating habits and making small changes for the environment.
