The Economic Tendency Indicator, which measures business and consumer confidence in the economic situation, rose from 94.9 last month to 98.8 in November. Business and consumer sentiment has gradually improved since May this year, but the level of the indicator still signals a somewhat weaker than normal situation.

Business: Increasing number of economic sectors showing signs of recovery The Economic Tendency Indicator for the business sector rose a further four points in November and has now risen for eight consecutive months. All economic sectors made a positive contribution, but the indicator’s level shows that the situation in the business sector remains weaker than normal. Employment has continued to fall to a considerable extent, but plans for the coming months indicate that fewer firms than previously will implement staff cuts. Consumer: Consumer confidence in economy more positive than normal Consumer confidence in the economic situation improved further in November. The Consumer Confidence Indicator (CCI) rose for the seventh consecutive month to 11.4 from 7.5 the previous month. Confidence in both personal finances and the Swedish economy was more positive. Household pessimism concerning the unemployment trend continued to decline.
