Advanced valve development thanks to geographical nearness
A close co-operation between Lesjöfors and Tour & Andersson has created a good base for developing the next generation of high-performance balance and control valve. A key to success in the project was the geographical nearness between the companies.
Tour & Andersson (TA) is the world market leader in manual balancing for waterborne heating and cooling systems. Production is carried out in Annelund in the city of Herrljunga and the company´s clients are situated world-wide. TA has been able to keep and strengthen their market-leading position by constantly developing products and work procedures. In the process of developing the next generation of pressure independent balance and control valve, TA turned to Lesjöfors Industrifjädrar in Herrljunga for consultation.
Advanced compression spring critical component
Designer engineers from Lesjöfors took part in the developing process of the valve from the project start. One of the valves most critical function components is a customized compression spring with requirements of extraordinary performance. The balance and control valve is predicted by TA to be the next "bestseller" on the world market. The development of the spring was carried out in close co-operation between designers from Lesjöfors and TA.
- The geographical nearness in this project has been a significant key to success. With short notice we have been able to attend work meetings and carry out tests of the innovative product at TA, says Jan Nordlund, project manager for TA at Lesjöfors Industrifjädrar.
Separate packaging of the sensitive spring
Since the new compression spring is very sensitive, a customized packaging system has been developed to protect the component.
- We are very satisfied with our co-operation with Lesjöfors. They have been able to meet our demands in a very good way, both when it comes to the advanced product development and later on the consecutive safety demands of the deliveries, says Daniel Ekberg, purchaser at TA.
