Omaha School Shooting:  What can be done?

Report this content

We are all horrified by yesterday’s tragic shooting death of a school principal in Omaha and others like it.  How do we deal with a child’s rage that leads to murder and suicide? What can be done to make schools and communities safer and make school and life connect?

Boston, MA January 7, 2011-We must teach all children, from preschool to high school skills such as self-control and self-confidence to help change the culture.  This can be done tangibly and Lesson One has been working with schools and communities and making strides in reducing bullying and making dramatic changes in school climate. Jon Oliver, author of “Lesson One: The ABCs of Life” and founder of the non-profit Lesson One says, “we need to teach self-control in the same way we teach reading and math…through activities, discussion and practice.”   Oliver is currently available for interviews, in-studio appearances and demonstrations on how to teach self-control and self-confidence.  Prevention is key to helping our children avoid dangerous and deadly decisions.  Oliver can show your audience key prevention strategies.
