Mekonomen Group has reached an important milestone in transforming its workshops to be market leaders in serving electric cars. More than 1,500 of the Group´s workshops now meet the requirements of the standard E+, which guarantees the necessary skills and equipment for serving the vast majority of all electric cars today. Mekonomen Group now increases its efforts with the aim to become the number one go-to for all electrical vehicle owners in Northern Europe.

The standard E+ was created by Mekonomen Group and the very first in the aftermarket industry. The target to reach 1,500 electric car workshops was set during the company’s Capital Markets Day in February 2021, to be achieved no later than 2022. The target has now been reached, which means that 1,500 electric car workshops have been trained according to the Group’s own standard E+ level 1. Level 1 guarantees that the workshops have the right skills and equipment to take care of more than 80 per cent of the work needed on modern electric cars.

“This is an important achievement and shows we are leading the transformation of our industry. We aim to become the number one go-to for electric vehicle owners in Northern Europe. We will continue to develop the level of electrical competence, increase the assortment and develop services according to the growth of the electric vehicle fleets in respective market. Apart from electric car training we currently cover more than half of the spare part requirement for the 30 most common electric cars in our markets, keeping a rapid speed to reach full coverage”, says Pehr Oscarson, President and CEO of Mekonomen Group.

Mekonomen Group has already started the training of workshops in E+ level 2 in all markets, which approves advanced work on all electric cars, including replacing high voltage components. In Sweden, the company has started a mobile E+ training tour that will train mechanics in 29 places in Sweden from October 2021 until June 2022.
