Mekonomen Group's business area MECA/Mekonomen has been exposed to data breaches. The breaches is limited to the MECA/Mekonomen business area in Sweden and Norway and does not affect the company's other three business areas.

Mekonomen Group has activated the company's cyber insurance which, among other things, gives the company access to IT expertise and limits potential financial damage for the company. Intensive work to address the problems that the breaches posed is ongoing. One of the effects, however, is that the company's website is down.

“We take the data breaches very seriously and work intensively to solve the problem. The focus right now is to minimize the impact on the business in every way. We believe that the breaches will have limited financial impact with the insurance being activated. In addition, our stores and workshops will be able to open on Monday morning in both Sweden and Norway. However, with some disruptions”, says Pehr Oscarson, President and CEO of Mekonomen Group.

The MECA/Mekonomen business area is one of four business areas within the Mekonomen Group and accounts for approximately 45 per cent of the company's sales.

According to an initial analysis, the intrusion does not affect any personal data, but the incident will be reported to both the Swedish police and the Swedish Data Inspectorate.
