Mekonomen’s acquisition of the automotive spare-parts chain Meca has been approved by the Swedish Competition Authority. Since Meca also conducts business activities in Norway, approval is also required from the Norwegian Competition Authority. The case is currently being processed.

“Naturally, the decision of the Swedish Competition Authority is positive, and we are now waiting for a ruling from the Norwegian Competition Authority,” says Håkan Lundstedt, President and CEO of Mekonomen.

Mekonomen signed an agreement for the acquisition of Meca on 12 October 2011. Meca is a well-known automotive spare-parts chain, with strong positions in Sweden and Norway. Mekonomen and Meca will continue to operate as separate companies with existing brands.
