Report this content

NCC Construction Norway is to construct Science Center Østfold, a knowledge and experiences center, in Sarpsborg, Norway, close to the Swedish border at Svinesund. The contract is worth about SEK 160 million and the client is Science Center Østfold eiendom AS.

The Science Center will convey knowledge in natural sciences and technology to schools and the general public. Special school programs, interactive methods, models and experiments will increase the interest of young people in natural sciences and technology. The new 6,400-square-meter science center will be energy-efficient and comprise concrete and steel structures with glass- and panel-clad façades. Offices available for lease will be constructed adjacent to the science center. Science Center Østfold is being funded by the national government, municipality and private sector. The building is designed by aart a/s, a Danish firm of architects based in Aarhus, and the assignment will be implemented as a turnkey contract. The project will commence in January 2010 and be completed by July 2011. The order will be registered in the fourth quarter of 2009.
