NCC Construction Norway is to widen the Minnesund Bridge and Julsrud Bridge on Highway E6 to accommodate four-lane traffic. The client is the Norwegian Public Roads Administration and the order is valued at approximately SEK 260 million.

The widening of the bridges is part of the project to create an uninterrupted four-lane highway on Highway E6 between Gardermoen and Biri, between Oslo and the town of Lillehammer, where the Olympic Games were held. The two bridges, which are 532 and 315 meters long, respectively, currently have two lanes and will be 22 meters wide on completion of the contract. The Minnesund Bridge stretches across the Mjösa Lake in the municipality of Eidsvoll and was constructed by NCC at the beginning of the 1990s when the road to Lillehammer was upgraded. In conjunction with the widening, both bridges will also be repaired and reinforced. Work on the project will commence in February 2010 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2011. The Minnesund Bridge will be closed for traffic for one year. The order will be registered in the first quarter of 2010.
