Peab has been commissioned to build the Swedbank Arena in Solna. Peab received the order from Arenabolaget in Solna and the value of the contract is SEK 2.2 billion. The project is a general contract and construction will start in June 2009, on the condition that zoning has gained legal force. Construction is expected to take around 38 months, which means that Swedbank Arena will be ready to inaugurate in 2012.

Peab will also construct two bridges over the railroad in Solna as well as build the roads and infrastructure adjoining the Swedbank Arena. Peab received the commission from Råsta Projektutveckling AB and the value of the contract is around SEK 1 billion. The commission is a partnering contract and construction will begin in June 2009, on the condition that zoning has gained legal force.

Swedbank Arena will replace Råsunda as Sweden’s national soccer arena. The facility will be Northern Europe’s largest venue with a closable roof for sports, concerts, culture, business etc. Public capacity at Swedbank Arena will be 50,000 spectators at soccer matches and more than 60,000 spectators at concerts. The projects will be reported in the second quarter 2009.
